Flemingsburg Junction

Flemingsburg Junction

American O scale (1:48)

The layout is based on Flemingsburg Junction in north-eastern Kentucky, which was the junction between the narrow gauge Flemingsburg and Northern Railroad and the Louisville and Nashville Railroad’s Paris to Maysville Branch.

In reality the narrow gauge was later converted to standard gauge and continued in operation until the end of steam. In our version it remained an expanded narrow gauge system, acquiring over time a varied collection of narrow gauge stock.

The depot is based on photographs of the original at Flemingsburg Junction but the coal and gas facilities together with the narrow gauge structures have been added for operational interest. The standard gauge has been laid using copper-clad sleepers to create the correct American spacing.

The standard gauge features diesel locomotives used by the Louisville and Nashville but the narrow gauge remains largely steam powered. The layout is operated by Digital Command Control with sound in all locos.
