National Lottery Grant Award
18 April 2003 - Members of Shipley Model Railway Society celebrated after receiving a grant of £2580 from the National Lottery’s Awards For All programme.
The Society was formed in 1978 and now has 52 members. Our first Exhibition was held in 1979 so our Exhibition in 2003 will be our 25th.
Two previous layouts, Evercreech Junction and Tebay, have received national acclaim and given a great deal of pleasure to many people.
The grant is for use on the new main line layout, Leicester South (GC), presently under construction. The award will allow members to build the main control panel, install point motors in the storage yard and construct the fluorescent lighting units for exhibition use.
